Petition to represent heirs of Eli Holly : San Felipe, Tex., 1833 Sep 11.

ADS written by William Barret Travis, petitioning Luke Lesassier,alcalde of Austin, for appointment as attorney representing heirs of Eli Holly. Holly, a United States citizen from Alabama, had died in San Felipe on September 7, leaving "property consisting of slaves or servants." The document lists names of Holly's nine children living in Alabama, whom Travis supposed to be his heirs. At the end of the petition is a holograph note written and signed by Lesassier, September 12, 1833, appointing Travis as attorney. The document is accompanied by a typed transcript.
